Modelling the recovery of biocompounds from peach waste assisted by pulsed electric fields or thermal treatment

The recovery of non-purified bioactive extracts (70% ethanol) from peach pomace (PP) was assisted by conventional thermal treatment (CTT, 50 °C up to 90 min) or pulsed electric fields (PEF, specific energy input, EV, 0.0014–2.88 kJ/kg). maximum concentration biocompounds and antioxidant activity, assessed with spectrophotometric HPLC methods, obtained upon 40 min CTT 0.0014 kJ/kg PEF, which took 16 ?s. A two-step mechanism proposed when applied, considering a first step (zero-order kinetic) in the PP were released into extraction media second degradation stage (first-order). significant relationship found between EV biocompound during PEF extraction, two-term model explain data. PEF-assisted adequately explained mechanistic empirical kinetic models, are feasible tools understand involved phenomena procedures.
